The Rockets are the youth section of Leicester Forest Cycling Club. We offer British Cycling Go-Ride and Advanced training sessions, and are based at the Leicester Cycle Circuit.
GO-RIDE TRAINING SESSIONS
Come along to the Rockets to improve your bike skills with our British Cycling-accredited coaches.
When?: Our Go-Ride training sessions are held every other Monday evening from 6.15 pm - 7.45 pm. (Meet up between 6 pm & 6:15 pm)
Where? Leicester Cycle Circuit - Car park off St Oswalds Road, Leicester, LE3 6DN
Costs: Club Members £3
What to bring: Please bring a smile, helmet and a working bike. You’ll need warm clothes in the winter and autumn sessions!
Sessions are open to any 5-16 year old as long as they have a bike that is in working order and wants to have fun.
ADVANCED ROAD COACHING SESSIONS
Leicester Forest Rockets also host Advanced Road Coaching sessions for Rockets and other Midland-based racers. These are appropriate for race-going riders in the U12, U14 and U16 age groups. They are hosted by the vastly experienced Tom Haines who is a Level 3 British Cycling coach and lead of local development sessions.
When?: Our Advanced Road training sessions are held twice a month from Spring to Autumn on Wednesday evenings from 6pm - 8pm
Where? Leicester Cycle Circuit - Car park off St Oswalds Road, Leicester, LE3 6DN
Costs: Club Members £4. Non-club members £6
What to bring: A working road bike, helmet, food and drink

INFORMATION FOR INTERESTED PARENTS
Thank you for your interest in the Leicester Forest Rockets
We have a regular group of like-minded kids, some of which do it to enhance skills and some to develop their race skills. All of this is done in a safe environment at the Leicester Cycle Circuit, which is traffic-free and floodlit. Our coaches are British Cycling trained, DBS checked, safeguarding and First Aid trained. I've put more info below. The first trial session is free, just let me know when you want to come down!
Our skills sessions Are Monday evenings from 6:15 pm to 7:45 pm, alternate weeks. We offer a broad range of skills in small groups of fun sessions for 5 to 16yrs old. This is normally at our home track at Leicester cycle circuit, but sometimes at other venues in and around Leicestershire.
We look at core competencies such as braking, cornering, observations and general core balance. Riders progress in each session and over time progress to more advanced skills over the season. Groups are done by ability (rather than age) as much as possible due to the safety of the riders. We add time for less experienced to ride with more experienced ones, and both groups benefit from each other.
Furthermore, we offer a number of other things where allowed with restrictions, including;
Social road rides for juniors
Off-road rides and meets
Advanced Youth Road Racing sessions
Dual coaching with talent development
Regional School of Racing Nomination where applicable
We also have a dedicated small number of riders who race competitively, this is completely optional but great fun. Rockets have racers in most disciplines and most age categories. Our riders have podiums in road, MTB, Cyclocross and track events, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. If you attend a cycling event locally, you are unlikely to be alone – just find Rockets Corner and join in!
A junior member for the season is £6 (plus the Spond fee). Each session booked at the track is £3.29 via our Spond App (to help cover the circuit hire), club rides and social events are pre-bookable but free.
If you feel like it interests you or your child, please become members on the Leicester Forest cycling club website (https://www.leicesterforest.com/club-membership). We will then invite you to our Spond APP and request you submit a parental consent form.
